Can you connect an Xbox 360 wireless mic to a wired controller?

I just purchased a wireless mic, and I don't have a wireless controller at the moment, and I can't seem to connect it to my wired controller. Anyone know how to remedy this, or must i purchase a wireless controller?

1. turn the xbox on
2. plug in the controller
3. turn the wireless mic on
4. press both the xbox's small circular button located below the memory slots and the small circular button on the wireless mic (the one on the mic is located just below the inner side of the earpiece).
5. when the xbox's ring of light stops flashing, press the same circular button on the wireless mic until the one farthest from the center is highlighted and stays highlighted (this means it is associated with the first controller)
6. try it out. Pressing the power button mutes and unmutes. Holding the power button shuts it off/turns it on.
If you get confused you could always ask Xbox if this doesn't work.
